While a number of Scope of Practice initiatives are in place across the country, this session will focus on the largest, the NSW Scope of Practice Trial. Delegates interested in this topic should firstly consider attending the Full Scope of Practice pre-conference workshop held on Thursday 31 August, 2.00pm – 5.30pm (see Thursday’s program above). This session will provide an overview of the progress to date of the NSW trial.

Biography
Paul Jones has been a community pharmacist since 1997 and a pharmacy owner since 2001. In 2003, Paul moved to Bathurst where he has since worked at Moodie’s Pharmacy, and in 2008 purchased McCarthy’s Pharmacy in Orange. Both pharmacies have been category winners of the Guild Pharmacy of the Year. Paul is a member of the Guild’s New South Wales Branch and a former Guild National Councillor. Paul has been on a journey of transforming pharmacy from not just supply, but to evidence-based services that improve patient health outcomes. He also sees the future of pharmacy as collaborating more with other health care professionals, with the patient at the centre, and the services that go with medication supply to improve compliance and adherence.
