Dr Nick Coatsworth is an expert in health policy and public administration, a practising infectious diseases physician, and Ambassador for Health Reform for the Australian Patients Association. Nick held a national role in the Australian response to COVID-19 as Deputy Chief Medical Officer, was Executive Director of the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre in Darwin and led the second Australian Medical Assistance Team to the Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan. During his early career, Nick was a field doctor for Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), practising in the Republic of Congo, Chad and Darfur, and later became President of MSF’s Australian Section. He has also served on the board of Careflight Limited. Nick is now engaged in exploring foreign policy decision making in health through his doctoral thesis at the Australian National University.
